The price of oranges went from $.90 per lb to $1.20 per lb in five years. Find the rate of change of the price of oranges.

The rate of change, or percent increase, is 33.3.

The amount of change is 1.20-0.90 = 0.30; divide this by the original amount, 0.90:

0.3/0.9 = 1/3 = 0.333 = 33.3%
