Potassium Iodide is formed by an ionic bond. Potassium (K) has one positive electron and Iodide (I) has one negative electron which they balance and cancel each other out because the formal charges of each element cancels each other out. Potassium has +1 charge which is neutralized by -1 charge of Iodide.

Hope this helps! ;)
