Visual imagery encoding is the process of storing new info by converting it into mental pictures. This process relates incoming information to knowledge that is already in the  brain. That way it is creating two different mental placeholders (visual and verbal).
Visual imagery encoding occurs in the visual processing regions in occipital lobe.
