Solve 3(x + 6) + 8(x – 3) = 27. Show each step of your work.

Distribute. 

3(x+6)

3x+18

8(x-3)

8x-24

3x+18+8x-24

Combine like terms. 

11x-6= 27

Add 6 to the other side. 

11x= 33

Divide both sides by 11. 

x=3
