The lymphatic system is composed of lymph, lymph vessels, and lymph nodes and lymphoid tissues. The lymph is very similar to blood plasma, and like it, can carry white blood cells. Thus, the lymphatic system is very important for your immune system. The lymphatic system allows white blood cells to have access to sites of infection much quicker. Certain types of white blood cells also mature inside lymph nodes.
