Why is liquid water freezing at a temperature below its freezing point a spontaneous process?

Well , when liquid water is kept at a temperature below it's freezing point it turns into ice. As the temperature of surrounding is below freezing point , it freezes. Hence the liquid water freezing at a temperature below its freezing point is a spontaneous process.
