STEP 1: Add up the numbers. In this case, we would add
4 + 8 + 18 = 30
STEP 2: Divide the sum of the number by the number of digits we have. We would divide 30 "sum of numbers" by 3 "number of digits" and we would end up with an answer of 10.
30 ÷ 3 ≈ 10
