The particles in a substance vary in motion in different forms of matter. In a solid, the particles have almost no motion or energy. In a liquid, the particles have more energy and therefore move a lot more than they do in a solid. In a gas, the particles have much more space to move giving them even more energy and even more motion. Hope this helps!
