Answer:

In Federal Japan terms,  a ronin is a samurai that has no lord or master to serve. ( Note that ronin is sorta like similar to assassins)

One of the popular ronin example would be Miyamoto Musashi who was an ex ronin at the age of 13 who would duel other skilled swordmen. ( Hes more known as military strategist and samurai currently)
