When something is amputated nerves are cut and tied to keep them inside the body in a functioning way. Often times those nerves and muscles are connected to thousands of others all throughout the body. So by touching one part of your body can cause tingling in other parts for example when you itch you ear often times you can feel it inside the roof of your mouth.
