Answer: slavery was ended but segregation started

Explanation: after slavery was abolished around the whole of the USA the southerners did not allow black African Americans to vote or be with white Americans. Even in the north side of America African Americans were able to walk freely and own things but were treated differently for example white people would have better homes than black African Americans.
