Answer:

Enzymes are specific to substrates as they have an active site which only allow certain substrates to bind to the active site. Enzymes and substrates  are basically just like a lock and key. The substrate fits into the active site based on the shape. An enzyme usually catalyzes a single chemical reaction or a set of closely related reactions.
