If someone consumes a lot of sodium it can raise their blood pressure and damage many organs in their body.

Well salt water can make a person become more thirsty and cause their kidney to be unable to get rid of the salt that comes from seawater. The body can normally gets rid of the excess salt by having the kidneys produce urine, but it needs freshwater to dilute the salt in your body for the kidneys to work properly.
