why is it important to set performance goals instead of outcome goals?

If you do this, you will not be as disappointed if you don't get the correct outcome. Since we are all human, we all mistakes; as long as we try our best (which would be a performance goal), you will not be as mentally damaged with what happens (the outcome goal).
