False. The Egyptians believed very strongly in an   afterlife, and they wanted to make sure they prepared for it. They  mummified dead bodies, because they believed the person's spirit  would thus be preserved and able to enter the  afterlife, at which time the person would be brought back to life  and reside with the gods.
