If 2(x - 5) + 3(x - 5) = 10, what is the value of x - 5?

Answer:

x + 5 divided by x - 5 = 10

Then we can solve it as

x + 5 = 10 ( x - 5 )

x + 5 = 10x - 50

Collecting the variables to one side & numericals to other side then the equation becomes

10x - x = 5 + 50

or 9x = 55

Therefore x = 55/9
