The original triangle had a hypotenuse of 26, a height of 10, and a base of 24. Using the Pythagorean Theorem, these measurements make sense.

a² + b² = c²
24² + 10² = 26²
576 + 100 = 676
676 = 676

The triangle's base has now been changed to 48, since 24 was doubled. The height of the triangle is still 10. Using the Pythagorean Theorem, which we just practiced with, we can find the missing hypotenuse, or the length of the ramp.

48² + 10² = c²
2304 + 100 = c²
2404 = c²
49.03 = c

The ramp needs to be about 49 feet long.
