The Pythagorean theorem deals with lengths of the side of a right triangle . The sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs of a right triangle

We use exponents in Pythagorean Property as :

AB²+BC²=AC²

In a right-angled triangle, the square of the two legs ,added will be the square root of the hypotenuse , thus we use  ²  in the propert(and the formula also states so).
