The point-slope form:

[tex]y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have the points (2, 2) and (0, -4). Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{-4-2}{0-2}=\dfrac{-6}{-2}=3\\\\y-2=3(x-2)[/tex]

The standard form:

[tex]Ax+By=C[/tex]

[tex]y-2=3(x-2)[/tex]        use distributive property

[tex]y-2=3x-6[/tex]          add 6 to both sides

[tex]y+4=3x[/tex]        subtract y from both sides

[tex]4=3x-y[/tex]

Answer: 3x - y = 4
