average rate of change is just the slope from (0,f(0)) to (2,f(2))

basically, average rate of change=slope=[tex]\frac{f(2)-f(0)}{2-0}[/tex]

evalaute each

f(2)=4(2)^2=4(4)=16

f(0)=4(2)^0=4(1)=4

so average rate of change=[tex]\frac{16-4}{2-0}=\fracc{12}{2}=6[/tex]

average rate of change is 6
