You know that 40 plus the bottom left angle equals 90, so now you know the bottom left angle is 50°. You also know that 3g is a right angle, so it is 3y = 90. This would mean y = 30. Then you add 90°+50° to get 140°. Then you subtract this from 180 to get 40°. Now you know that 5x = 40. You solve this and get x = 8. So the answer is x = 8 and y = 30.
