so to do this i would make the equation:

3*3.95+x=20

11.85+x=20

x=8.15

First, you would do 3 * 3.95 to find the price of the books.

3.95(3) = 11.85

Now, we subtract it from the $20. This will give you the change.

20 - 11.85 = 8.15
