Combine like terms:

[tex]3y + 2y = 5y[/tex]
[tex]4 + 1 = 5[/tex]
[tex]80 = 5y + 5[/tex]

Subtract 5 from both sides:

[tex]75 = 5y[/tex]

Divide both sides by 5:

[tex]15 = y[/tex]

The value of y is 15.
